Eight hundred years ago the lineage of the Martsang Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism began, its monastery soon became the largest in Kham District, east Tibet. We are delighted and humbled that His Holiness the 12th Gangri Karma Rinpoche, the thirty-eighth holder of the Martsang Kagyu lineage, plans to re-build a Martsang Kagyu Buddhist monastery.
The aim of the monastery is to support the study and practice of the Martsang Kagyu lineage of traditional and unique Buddhist teachings, whilst preserving them for the benefit of future generations. His Holiness hopes establishing a monastery will advance Buddhism, its beneficial teachings and way of life for all.
His Holiness, having previously built and managed a Monastery in Tibet, knows the benefits such an establishment can bring to individuals, families, and communities. Therefore, we are committed to providing a harmonious setting where the study of Tibetan Buddhism, philosophy, and Buddhist scientific research take place alongside other complementary teachings and events.
We aim to create a tranquil, supportive environment for those who which to break away from the busyness of contemporary life and reconnect with nature and spirituality, whether for a day or a longer residential reteat.
If our passion for the revival and future of Martsang Kagyu, is something you share and would like to help in any way at all: by way of donation, an offer of land, or your time and skills, please contact us by Email: info@martsangkagyu.org , any assistance large or small is greatly appreciated, thank you.
May the Martsang Kagyu Buddhist monastery and the teachings of the Martsang Kagyu lineage bear fruit and benefit all beings everywhere.
